This limited edition, not-to-be-repeated print in Banjari design dates back to the 16th-century communities in Rajput. The pattern symbolizes the life and identity of the Nomadic Indian communities Gadia Lohar and Banjara.
The bold repeat of the spear/arrow motif is traditional for Godia Lohar, iron workers are known for their fierce defense of their identity and are very skilled makers of the bhala spear. Our highly skilled artisan printers use 3 hand-carved blocks across multiple layers to create the intricate details in this stunning design.
The layered colours in this print stem from these all-natural dyes: Iron, alum alizarin, tamarix flower, lime, acacia tree gum, Indigo, pomegranate and turmeric.
Part of our Ajrakh quilted range.
