All about Calm Buddhi products
What's happening with Calm Buddhi over the Xmas break?
We are working all the way till the 23rd December. If you want your order sent on this day please ensure it is placed prior to 11:30am. We will be available for pick by appointment on the 24th December. We will then be on restricted hours between Christmas and new year to enjoy time with our family.
The warehouse will be operational on the 30th December and then functioning on normal hours from the 3rd January.
Do you have a shop where I can browse your products?
We can show you around our warehouse and small showroom so you can experience the prints, colours and beautiful craftsmanship in person
We are open for shopping by appointment till the 13th December. From the 13th December-23rd December we will be open for people to shop in person between 10am-2:30pm (excluding Wednesdays)

How do I care for the fabrics?
We recommend dry cleaning your product covers whenever possible.
Alternatively, follow these guidelines:
- For all natural dye products: Use soap nuts as a natural way to clean your covers. As with any true natural dye, the fabric may fade a little with each wash.
- For our plain colour range and GOTS-friendly dyed products: Clean in cold water with mild detergent.
- For all bolster and cushion covers: Stretch out a little once washed and then lay them out to dry out of direct sunlight.
Where are the fabrics made?
All of our Calm Buddhi fabrics are created by our hand-picked artisans in India. You can find them in Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Nepal.
How do you source your products?
We don’t take the sourcing of our products lightly. That’s why we travelled around India to find the most ethical block printing communities and we revisit the artisan communities regularly.
Each of our printers has done wonderful things for their community and honours their artisans with fair work and pay conditions.
Why do your products come with their price tag?
Our products are like no other on the market. The creation process is mindful and slow (taking up to 8 months from concept to creation). Every product involves hand carving of the wooden blocks, hand mixing the dyes or preparing the plant dye recipes, hand block printing with multiple steps in fabric preparation and dye layers, to the hand quilting of some of our fabrics into our own patterns.
The many layers within this process mean that no 2 pieces are ever the same.
What is the block printing technique you use for your products?
Hand block printing is a traditional art form. And each design has its own special technique. You can find out more about the specific technique and artisan in each product description.
Will my product look exactly like the product images?
Please keep in mind that every product is dyed and printed by hand and comes with a natural variance. Hand-mixed dyes tend to vary from item to item as the environmental conditions and the humidity changes. Block printing is a block-by-block process and, while our artisans are experts, there will be slight variations in the execution.
But that only adds to the unique character of your chosen product.
Which dyes do you use?
All Calm Buddhi dyes are organic, plant-based or GOTS-friendly to comply with our sustainable practices.
Which fabrics do you use?
We use 100% cotton fabric with quality YKK zips and organic cotton where stated.
Do you have organic certification?
This is something we are working on. Our printers in rural Gujarat are experts in making natural dyes from flowers, gums, vegetable skins, alum, indigo and many other plant-based materials.
Whilst they are absolute leading craftsmen in this field, applying for certification is not something they have explored to date because it comes at huge costs for the artisan communities. Many of these communities have decided to invest this money for other purposes
How does purchasing your products support artisan communities?
By choosing Calm Buddhi products, you cut out the middle man. That means higher wages for artisans and healthy working conditions we’ve experienced first hand.
We work directly with a small handful of family-run block printing communities who are at the forefront of ethical practices in their trade. Each of our block printing partners meets our ethical standards, has eco-practices in place, conserves water and minimises waste production
Not only do we truly care about our artisans and their livelihood, we’ve also supported them with health resources and profits from special product initiatives throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rather than giant profit margins at our end, we support our main block printer with initiatives such as vocationally training differently-abled artisans.
Ordering your product
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, we do. You can purchase a gift card right here. Simply select whether you want to print the gift card yourself or whether you want it emailed directly to the lucky person.
Every gift certificate includes a gift code to redeem at checkout, just like cash.
What if my favourite item is out of stock?
Don’t worry, we’ve got a fix. Simply sign up for a notification by email on the product page as soon as your favourite item comes back into stock.
Curious about the restock date? Simply contact us on 0404 632 253 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday for an estimated date. We usually open products for pre-orders once we get more certainty on delivery dates.
Can I return my order for a refund or exchange?
Yes, you can. We happily exchange your product within 7 business days if the item is unused and in its original packaging. Return shipping costs will be at your expense.

Can I cancel my order?
You can certainly try. Usually, there is a very small time window before your order is processed and ready for shipping.
We’re happy to cancel your order as long as the item hasn’t left our warehouse. Simply contact us on 0404 632 253 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday
Do you offer wholesale?
No, we don’t wholesale. This means less waste and more control over our eco-footprint. It gives us direct contact to you, our amazing customers. Which we love!
Calm Buddhi is all about delivering you our slow and mindfully made cushions and bolsters in an effective way online.
By not wholesaling, we also give our artisans a lot more freedom to create from a place of creativity and inspiration rather than pressure and deadlines.
Do you offer discounts?
We rarely do. Instead, we price our products for their value and the countless artisan hours it takes to make the product.
Working directly with artisanal families and communities in India gives us the unique opportunity to know our sources and work with communities side by side ensuring ethical trade, a good wage and comfortable working conditions. That’s what we invest in instead.
Shipping your product
What's happening with Calm Buddhi over the Xmas break?
We are taking a short break and will resume normal hours and sending your beautiful orders by the 4th of January.
How much is shipping?
That depends on your order and your location. The shipping costs are determined by our delivery provider and we pass these on without markup.
What determines individual shipping costs are your postcode and the weight of your order (and the dimensions for international orders).
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship to many countries around the world.
For orders shipped Internationally (i.e. outside of Australia), customers may encounter additional expenses such as import duties, value-added tax (i.e. VAT) and customs fees.
Import duties are government tariffs and will be determined and payable directly by the customer after items arrive in the destination country.
Customers should be aware of these potential costs, as they can significantly impact the total amount paid for their international purchases.
It's advisable to check and understand these fees beforehand to make informed buying decisions.
When will my order ship?
Orders usually ship within 2 working days.
My order contains in-stock and pre-order items. When will it ship?
In this instance we will ship your full order once the pre-ordered item has arrived at our warehouse.
How long does shipping take?
How long is a piece of string? The actual shipping time depends on the time of year and your location.
We recommend referring to the Australia Post and Star Track service timelines for more information. As soon as we ship your order (usually within 2 working days), you’ll receive a shipping confirmation with an estimated arrival date and a tracking number to give you a better idea.
Do you offer click and collect?
Yes. Local Click and Collect is available 9:30am -2:30pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Simply select ‘pick up’ at checkout.
You will receive further instructions on how to arrange a personal pick-up time once you’ve placed your order.
How do you ship my order?
We believe in reducing our eco-footprint so we use recycled boxes or compostable package bags to package your order.
Any non-negotiable plastic we need to use is repurposed from our shipping processes from India.
We are far from perfect but on our way to removing plastic use from our suppliers and throughout the shipping process from India and to your door.
And our big Calm Buddhi goal for 2022 is to be 100% plastic-free by the end of the year.

Please check your Australia Post or Star Track tracking number you receive by email as soon as your order ships.
If, for any reason, delivery of your item is taking longer than the estimated arrival date, please do get in touch so we can lodge an investigation directly with the delivery provider.
