Ajrakh is a traditional hand block printing trade that includes resist dying and the use of indigo, madder, printed mordants and often multiple hand carved blocks. Often handed down through lineage it is a craft that is limited to very few places and artisans.

We work with a family that has worked with this craft for over nine generations in which the their styles have evolved. Sufiyan and his team now uses many different colours of nature including indigo for blues, red from madder, dark greens and yellows from pomegranate skins and turmeric, browns from rhubarb root, purple from lockwood and scrap iron for black.
